Why spend so much time trying to distinguish them? All activities of
the chapter involve (or should I hope) fellowship. Too often we who
work at colleges and universities try hard to overcome the lack of
student involvement in activities outside of the classroom. As an
educator, former Section 91 Chair, and alumni of the ESU of PA chapter:
anything you can do to support the activities and programs of your
institution can be seen as service to the college.
Very often when I was Section 91 chair and would visit chapter meetings
service was equated with work (heavy lifting, cleaning the roadside,
raising money for dontation) and fellowship was equated with fun (going
to campus events, social time, dinner and so on.) And the chapters
spent time figuring out which was which. I say anything that supports
the institutional programs fills both the service and the fellow.
Enjoy!
