Brothers All,

I have an idea about webcam. If someone has the webserver space to run
such and a handy recording digital webcam (I have one at my parents'
home in Rochester, NY), it might be a neat idea to show off some of the
things that go on, on sort of a rotating basis. Maybe some of the floor
stuff (as opposed to constantly running), some of the service projects,
and some of the open committee work. Maybe some of the parties and
dancing and fun. Set up "show times", say 9-11 am on the 29th for
Legislative, maybe 1-3 PM on the 27th for Scouting Committee, and an 11
PM - Midnight "Dance Cam."

I think this would benefit in the following way:
1. Good advertising for a nationals in the future. People might look and
say, "Damn, I am missing the time of my life."

2. It would protect privacy on the floor. If a sensitive issue came up,
generally speaking, we can ballpark the time it will once Committee
Reports roll in. Before the convention, we can say "On the 29th,
morning, we'll have Legislation live." After the reports roll in, we can
let non-sensitive issues, like Scouting this past Convention, have sort
of an "announced time", which people can check over the web at that
convnetion's website.

3. It would give other people who happen into it through word of mouth
or pure curiosity a chance to sample APO.

If someone has a sophisticaated laptop or desktop and is willing to take
it to the Convention in Philly, and we can get one decent High-speed
connection (I doubt we can afford a T1), its possible. I know some
convention sites have offered cable modem access (this from NetMarketing
Magazine), though this is not common practice. If someone has the use of
Cable Modem that is the same service, then we have a fast enough
connection to run it. A 56K dedicated ISDN may also be enough, though it
might bog down.

I know a constant live feed would be difficult, but perhaps some showing
in a limited sense of a variety of stuff may well work.

Just a thought,
Rich Quodomine
