Ok, Ok...
Before this gets WAY out of control, let me interject. As for the
Conventions...well there are many different people with different needs.
There is the reference committee voting delegate that doesn't see the
outside of the hotel, there is the voting delegate that has some time to
meet brothers and do other things, there are the brothers that are non
voting delegates that want to meet people and see the city, and there are
the brothers that really don't care about any legislation and just want
to be "tourists". They are all apart of APhiO.
Now as for the bids, we all have our strong points, and our weak ones.
One of the many strong points of Philadelphia as a location for the next
National Convention is that it will be located in the heart of the city.
That means that you can walk to the Liberty Bell if you have a half an
hour break, or can shop on south street in you don't like the particular
workshops for that afternoon. And for at night, we have about a dozen
clubs and various late night restaurants to fuel the brothers that want
to have fun with their "new friends", and not be cooped up in the hotel.
As for after the Convention, We have Philly's famous 1st night
activities, the 100th Anniversary of the Mummers Parade (we will explain
what a mummer is in Minn.), and many other points of fun. The best thing
is...the Liberty Bell, South Street, Delaware Ave., the Mummer's
Parade...they are all under a 10 minute WALK!
And for those true APhiO Die Hards...we are also the closest Bid located
to ALPHA CHAPTER (LAFAYETTE COLLEGE) which is only 1 hour away in Easton,
PA.
As for everything else...we have the hotels, we have the support to run
the convention, we have the stuff to do....we CAN host the 75th
Anniversary National Convention.
