Dowtown Regal Hotel Catches Fire
MINNEAPOLIS, Posted 9:22 p.m. November 17, 1998 -- The Regal Hotel in
Downtown Minneapolis broke out in flames this evening.
WCCO-TV reports firefighters are on the scene, as are numerous officers
with the Minneapolis Police department and some paramedics.
The television station reports the fire appeared to be contained to the
top floor of the hotel, a floor filled with penthouse suites and
meeting rooms.
Authorities estimate around 100 people were evacuated successfully from
the hotel, many wearing shorts and comfortable evening clothes.
The fire department at this hour is reporting no injuries.
The fire is reportedly nearly extinguished, and firefighters are
bringing in fans and opening windows in an effort to ventilate the
building.
Channel 4000 will have more details as they become available.
