As outlined on the activity calendar, Region V will host an APOKE (Alpha
Phi Omega Knowledge Exchange) this Saturday, October 24, 1998 at the
University of Dayton. The primary purpose of the APOKE is to review the
legislation that has been presented for consideration at the 1998 National
Convention. We will review the proposals and be able to discuss them and
ask questions of the other chapters and the staff present. With this review
we hope that chapters will then gain additional knowledge as well as
background on the issues prior to their journey to Minneapolis.

The actual APOKE will begin at 1:00 PM in the UD Kennedy Union Rm. 222.
Brothers will be on hand in the Kennedy Union starting at 10 AM to welcome
you and to get you a campus parking pass.

The Alpha Gamma Xi Chapter has also planned a service project Saturday
morning for those who wish to arrive early on Saturday or on Friday night.
The service project is an outdoor "nature" project (that translates to the
kind you get dirty at) for the Glen-Helen Nature Preserve in Yellow
Springs. Brothers will be departing from the UD Lot C at 9 AM sharp.
Brothers traveling from the north may prefer to meet the chapter at the
nature preserve at 9:45 AM and should contact the chapter (see below ) for
directions.

Following the APOKE for those who do not wish to make the journey home
Saturday evening, the UD chapter has reserved the UD Kennedy Union Game
room for APO only from 5 7 PM, complete with billiards and bowling. So plan
to stay alittle longer and enjoy the fellowship opportunity.

Overnight housing is available with brothers from the UD chapter for either
Friday night or Saturday night or both. To take advantage of this fine
offer though you must contact the chapter to arrange where to meet your
host and more importantly to obtain a parking pass for the UD campus.

The chapter has requested that those brothers attending notify them by
contacting Bryan Royer, Chapter President by phone at 937-285-8267 via
email at Sleepy477@aol.com or page him at 937-635-8516.

The UD chapter needs to know:
        Where you are from (Chapter)
Who they can contact at your chapter
        # folks needed Friday housing
        # folks attending the service project
        #attending APOKE
        #attending fellowship event
        #need housing Saturday night

For further questions contact either Bryan as noted or Barb Anderson,
Region V Director at jbanderson@greenapple.com. We look forward to seeing
many of our chapters represented.

Just as a note, if you are unable to attend the APOKE at UD, a second APOKE
will be held at the Section 62/64 Conference the weekend of November 6-8,
1998.

Directions to University of Dayton.

Depending on where you are journeying from will dictate how your reach I-75
which runs north and south through Dayton. Dayton is located south of I-70.
With that you all should be able to locate the city, now for the specifics

From I-75, exit at Edwin C. Moses Blvd. (Exit #51) and head east. Take a
right onto Stewart Street and cross the bridge. Travel on Stewart Street
until you reach Brown Street and then turn right. Follow Brown until you
reach Kiefaber Street where you will turn left (Note there is no light at
Kiefaber St. if you pass a Sunoco Station and a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream you
have gone too far).

Follow Kiefaber until you reach the end of the street. Turn left onto
Evanston Avenue and take an almost immediate right into Lot C. There is a
little parking lot attendant building next to the entrance to Lot C.

From Lot C you need to locate the Kennedy Union unless you arrive in time
for the service project on Sat. at 9 AM in which case you need to meet the
brothers from UD in Parking Lot C next to the Kettering labs.

Those arriving Friday evening contact the chapter as noted above for better
specifics on where to meet.

For those prefering a hotel to the always comfortable free housing with
brothers, contact UD for specific information and phone numbers.
