Hello my Brothers and pledges of the Fraternity,
Alpha Phi Omega is more than the sum of the current Brothers and all of
actions that we collectively have taken. It is not the "same" Fraternity as
when
my father was an active Brother, heck it's not the "same" Fraternity as when
I
was an active Brother. Yet it is the same Alpha Phi Omega, that countless
thousands, perhaps even millions, of souls that we as a whole have touched
for the better. We are comprised of living traditions. One of the main
reasons
I was attracted to APO was the fact that we are not dedicated to any one
service organization let allow one area of service. The active membership of
this Brotherhood has always gone where it is needed the most. Never thinking
of ourselves, truly humble in our service.
I served as voting delegate for two national conventions for two
different
chapters. I believe that we need to focus more on our mission as a
Fraternity.
First, to reach those who need the standard of manhood to fill the gap and
to
them in the right direction. Second to help those who can help themselves.
Third,
to help resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner. My grandfather's advice, "
Do not
live in the past, it is fixed and unchangeable. Learn from the past, act in
the now
with an eye to the future". In short (I know a bit too late) do not change
the history
we share, add to it. Our roots are strong, but the oak is still growing.
I welcome private emails on my philosophy. Keep the faith, tomorrow will
be
another day,
In Leadership, Friendship and Service,
John "Quack" Leonard
