I just finished a perl script to simplify the backup process. The
appended text, added to HOWTO-BACKUP, basically explains it. I'd
appreciate if people could try this out so I can hammer out any
remaining bugs. I successfully ran this week's backup using this
script.

NEW BACKUP INSTRUCTIONS!!! There is a new way to do the backup. It
has been tested, but if you're going to do it, you should be able to
watch it, and it would be nice if I'm around in case something loses.
If you don't want to be on the bleeding edge, the old system will
still work. --marc

1) log into hodge (machine with exabyte drive) as root
2) obtain tokens for the sipb cell with appropriate privileges
        kinit
        aklog sipb.mit.edu
3) put the correct tape in the drive
4) run
	/afs/sipb/project/newdump/backup.pl /full_n
where n is the number of the tape

If it runs normally, the last few lines will be:

backup: ; Finished doing dump sipb.full_n successfully
Quitting backup...
Killing butc...
Done.

That's it! It will take care of running do-backups, butc, and backup,
answer all the prompts, log everything, and compress and store the
logs under last/*.yymmdd.Z. Any problems to sipb-afsreq, as usual,
I'll see them there.
