I just had to restore a volume from backup.

bug #1:
Someone forgot to label SIPB.4 with the date of the last dump.

bug #2:
The volrestore ran to almost completion, but at the end,
butc complained:

Restoring volume project.news.restore Id 536872422 on server RONALD-ANN.MIT.EDU partition /vicepe ..Could not set the date on 536872422
___9: RPC interface mismatch (-455)

The volume was not entered into the vldb.

At first, I thought this might be potentially related to the partition
filling up, so I "zapped" the volume and tried again on a less-full
partition.

I managed to re-enter it into the vldb using "vos syncvldb".

Full transcripts are in /afs/sipb/project/newdump/last/restore.* and
butc-restore.*

I assume this may well be due to old software on ronald-ann
