Well, see, if we made D and E all RO volumes, we'd be throwing away
more than 650 meg of useable space, which we are using. We have a
bunch of volumes from vicepe (the really flakey drive) with RO's on
vicepd (the less flakey drive). Removing these has been discussed,
since they're not really kept up to date. (These volumes take up
about 180 meg, or abour 13% of our disk space. All of this wasted
space is on vicepd). The only other volume RO'd is project.sipbsrc.
It has been argued that with tape backups, even this is a waste.
So, in short, we don't use the athens drives only for backup because
we would then have to delete half a gig of stuff. This is obviously
not an option.
