  What reason is there to create a separate volume just to compile
something in?  We have never done that before -- the sipbsrc locker
has always been used directly to do development in.

  I see no advantage to creating separate volumes just to get a
package ready to install it in the sipbsrc locker.

  Also, Ken, note that there are X11 Imakefile templates for X
programs in /mit/sipbsrc/src/X11-config.
