I've been informed by Richard that the backup software which SIPB is
using is ancient. This may be the cause of the mysterious errors we see
everythime we make a backup. Upgrading to the new version will
probably make the backups more reliable. One thing to think about is
that the backup tape formats between the pre-3.0 beta versions which we
are using and the current AFS 3.1 versions are not compatible, so there
would be a month when our backup tapes would be in two different
formats. I don't think this is an insurmountable problem, however.
