MusicTeX is a macro package for TeX. Unlike MuTeX it does typeset
polyphony and multistaves. I have successfully used it to do a couple
of things. The documentation is relatively poor, consisting of one
document that is somewhat helpful, but incomplete (notice.tex). There
are also a bunch of demo files, some of which might be useful. I
haven't looked to carefully.

The package consists of the demos, some tfm files for the special music
font it uses (it can also do without the music font, for faster
printing, but it looks awful), some mf files for the font, and a 300dpi
and 82dpi version of the font.

The entire thing, including the original compressed tar file is in
/afs/sipb/user/aaron/Projects/music/musictex. I would like to put it
(or have it put) somewhere else. Much of this could go to live in the
sipb TeX font directories (e.g. the tfm files).

The main drawback of this program is that is uses so many of TeX's
registers that it won't run under LaTeX (this is partly a guess, but it
is implied by the author). I can't remember where I got it, either,
except that it was from somewhere in France. The author doesn't put the
ftp address on it.
