Tape_01 (which I did the backup onto, Monday night) was labelled
sipb_backup, which prevented butc from using it. I "nuked" the header
with dd, and butc then ignored the header (I didn't know about backup
relabel) and proceeded with the dump.
During the dump, a number of things (1) got completely swapped
out (such as twm, and init!) (2) were running at lower priorities than
the backup (such as init, again.) I'd assume that it's merely another
example of "Ultrix: the Nightmare Continues" -- zombies everywhere,
since init wasn't "wait"ing for them. Since I couldn't get at the
xterms running backup and butc, I simply rebooted the machine when it
rewound the tape and freed up the device. I hope this isn't normal
behaviour... if it happens alot, someone needs to get flamed for it
:-).
