We have a "backup" Athena account with no locker. It is used (locally
on servers) for the purpose of automated backups. The passwd line is:
backup:*:410:101:Quincy L. Backup,,,,:/mit/backup:/bin/csh
Since there is no backup locker, and since the backup homedir needs to
be local for our backups, we change this line to give the homedir
location as /var/backup. Anyone know of a reason we shouldn't just
update this in Moira (and therefor in Hesiod)? It would then be:
backup:*:410:101:Quincy L. Backup,,,,:/var/backup:/bin/csh
The "discuss" account has a similar use (goes into /etc/passwd to be
used locally). There is a discuss locker, but it has no dot files and
is not a homedir. Therefor, we'd like to change:
discuss:*:32000:101:Discuss System,,,,:/mit/discuss:/bin/csh
to
discuss:*:32000:101:Discuss System,,,,:/usr/spool/discuss:/bin/csh
Any objections or concerns?
(/usr/spool is a symlink to /var/spool on all our discuss servers, as
far as I know, but the users' .meetings files contain paths that start
with /usr/spool/. The only /var/spool meeting I found in my .meetings
file is at UCSC.)
