To make more room on the 18.181 network (currently there are no more
network ports for the new AFS server), Matt and I are planning to
migrate it from a Delni to a twelve-port UTP repeater. To avoid a big
outage, we will presumably start with eight AUI ports (using two-port
and four-port transceivers) and migrate the Suns to UTP as it becomes
convenient to reboot them.
If anyone sees a problem with this, please speak up right away, since
netops currently has plans to start wiring up the twelve-port UTP
transceiver, and I wouldn't want to waste netops' effort if we have to
change our minds.
