Chad -- re-read what I said. I said "when ronald-ann is moved from
18.70 to 18.181 (which will just entail unplugging it from one delni
                   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
and plugging it into another), the vldb will need to be rebuilt".

Ah, there's the difference I hadn't noticed before. I had assume that
since we had at least two extra machines and something like 6-7G of
extra disk, we wouldn't need to do this. Whichever way people want -
makes no difference to me.

I think that trying to do any part of the cutover on Thanksgiving
weekend is unrealistic, and a bad idea. In addition to the points
Matt mentioned, I beleive it will be pushing things to expect the 4G
disk to be ready by then. Even if purchsing orders the disk in the
next couple of days, we can expect it to take 2-3 business days to get
in. After that I'd like to see some tests run on it, at least over
night. Now remember that next week is a three day week, and it will
be difficult to get the disk from e40 late next week. Also keep in
mind that Matt and I (the two people who did most of the last
migration), and maybe other AFS admins probably won't be available for
much of the weekend. IMHO we are trying to race into this a little
bit; having the RS6K for an extra week isn't likely to kill anything.

I must have been unclear about this point, but I wasn't saying for
sure that we'd have the 4G disk by then; as I understand the current
state of things, it's not necessarily needed. That said, if
Purchasing does what they said, I still think that we could do the
cutover sometime Thanksgiving weekend (which is 4 days, remember, ony
~1.5 of which w20 is closed). The point of me mentioning it was that
I would be able to do it; I've done similar work on the SIPB cell
before (although you proabbly didn't know that, since it was before
you were really working on the AFs stuff... Geez, I feel old. :-)

Anyway, I've made my offer of time; if we decide not to do it then,
then I'll have some extra free time. If not, I'd like to hear about
it soon, thanks.
