The pts database appears to still be toast. Last night I noticed
intermittent hanging of `pts mem system:administrators -c sipb' (I
waited for about 40 minutes once), along with a few instances of the
empty membership problem we've been having for a while.
If the problem is the unused addressess on 18.181 in the CEllSrvDB
(yes, I still have them), then perhaps we should talk to network about
borrowing a machine to sit on 18.181.0.22 and run a DB server and
serve the root volumes? I'd be surprised if there wasn't *any*
hardware available that could do this; the zone cell is using RT's for
this still. If they can't find any hardware to do this, I suggest we
consider moving one of the office vaxen into the machine room for a
while.
I'm not bringing this up with sipb-staff yet, since I'd like to hear
other AFS people's input first. Someone should move the conversation
to sipb-staff as soon as it becomes relevant.
