		     Jerrison Murder Suspect Held

Sources report that an unnamed individual is being held by the
Police. Little else is known of this, the first suspect in the murder
of James Michael Jerrison, Jr.

New Co-President Elected in Teamsters Union 318
		  The Santiago Compromise is Signed

After the untimely and unfortunate death of Union co-president
James Michael Jerrison, Jr. Saturday night, an emergency meeting of
the Union was held to elect a new president. An announcement was made
late Sunday that the new president was the Picayune's own Percival
Dulac. He was put right to work at the negotiations table and a
contract called "The Santiago Compromise" was signed late tonight and
will take effect tomorrow, calling off the strike.

Instrumental in the completion of the agreement was Julio
Santiago, who seemed to be sincerely interested in the well-being of
all those involved. The initial compromise was drawn up by him, and,
after several negotiations, the final contract was signed tonight.
The Union leaders seemed reasonably satisfied with the compromise.
Said Mr. Dulac, "In general, all those involved are glad to be putting
this affair behind them." He was concerned with his safety and
well-being earlier in the night, but is now hopeful that things will
be calming down quite a bit as the strike draws to a close. "The
docks will be functional again, and we can all get back to work."

Town Meets With BI Agent Martinelli

Earlier in the day Sunday, there was a town meeting with the
BI Agents. Several questions were asked, namely, what will happen
if/when the 300 or so G-Men arrive next Sunday, and can this impending
event be averted? Attempting to answer these questions,
Mr. Martinelli responded by saying that the G-Men will be arriving if
New Orleans does not show signs of improvement in terms of its
apparent crime and violence. He pointed out the newspapers as being
the source of the common notion that New Orleans is the haven of
unlawfulness and added that he believes it is only a few criminals who
are ruining the image of such a "beautiful city." If we could solve
the so-far unsolvable mysteries that loom over New Orleans, we might
be able to stop the G-Men from taking over the city. He didn't say
that martial law was being imposed, but that description of the event
was made by several town citizens at the meeting. He did say,
however, that these new BI Agents would be "less tolerable of 'certain
things' than we are." One can only conjecture what these "things"
might be. Reginald Dulac, Sheriff and senatorial candidate, added, in
his usual bluntness, that "something has to be done, and if it isn't,
then New Orleans will go to hell."

Lark Xarn: Socialist Candidate Takes Stand on Strike
		     Teddy Sudbury Remains Silent

The new socialist candidate, Lark Xarn, pledged his support of
the Teamsters Union strike earlier in the day and said that he would
work for the improvment of conditions and the general well-being of
all dockworkers. The Union seemed impressed with this show of support
and gladly welcomed it, but, as it now seems that the strike has come
to a close one might wonder how much political influence the Union
needs. But it can be assured that any and all support for the Union
and its goals will be gladly accepted.

Other candidates have yet to come out on either side of the
issue. Although Mr. Sudbury seemed to be previously interested in the
Unions concerns, he has been quiet in recent days on this topic. In
fact, rumors have been circulating about his current whereabouts,
since he has not been seen about town recently.

event.
