Sorry, this shuold have gone out earlier. In addition to the voting for
Senator, there has been a referendum placed on the ballot. The referendum
reads.
We the people of New Orleans believe that it is necessary to perform
repairs and maintainance on the neglected docks and warehouses of the port
of New Orleans. First, 450,000 dollars will be spent to repair the
warehouses, ensuring that total storage capacity is never affected during
repairs. Second, 500,000 dollars will be spent to repair the docks. Again
repairs will be done so as to ensure that normal traffic is maintained.
We the people of New Orleans, wishing to perform the above repairs, authorize
the city to raise the personal and property taxes needed to pay for the work.
A yes vote is a vote to raise taxes and to perform repairs.
A no vote is a vote to not raise taxes and to not perform repairs.
You can vote on this at the same time you send in your ballets for the
Senatorial election.
GM note: the tax level raised would represent about 2% of your annual income
for 3 yrs.
