X/MS mouse double-click prob?

Hi guys,
well, I was just randomly clicking my mouse today when I noticed that
double-clicking DOES work in the xterm for selecting words, but in a
strange way (?). If I _just_ double-click, no dragging, then it selects a
word fine. In fact, if I then use the right mouse button, it does
selection by words, not letters.
My question has changed, then: shouldn't it select a word, even if I hold
down the button on the second click, to drag? That's how I _thought_ the
behavior was on other workstations. What behavior does your xterm have?
