EXMH and Zephyr

I cannot seem to get EXMH or Zephyr to work on my machine when I login. In exmh
I keep getting an error which says:
BgRegister X serverinsecure (must use xauth-style authorization); command ignored
also, it seems EXMH behaves like emacs whenever I attempt to compose a new
message.
Zephyr just doesn't work. I don't know if I needed to load it but this is my
first time installing X on my machine and it hasn't been pretty :-(
