Linux use XFree86 as their X server.)  I think it does.

IDE CD-ROMs generally don't work with NetBSD right now; they do work
with Linux.  Mitsumi CD-ROMs work with both.

Everything else should be fine.  You'll also need an ethernet card; an
NE2000 compatible, 3C509, or SMC card should work with either system.
We've also had success with Digital Ethernet and Lance-based PCI cards
under NetBSD; if you get a PCI card, you should find out what chipset
it uses.  I suspect Linux supports both the Digital Ethernet and Lance
PCI chipsets, so you should be fine if it's one of those two.

(Note that an ISA ethernet card is usually quite adequate, since
ethernet speeds are significantly lower than the maximum ISA bus
speed.)
