To: 3partysw@MIT.EDU Cc: netbsd-help@MIT.EDU Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 08:46:21 EDT From: Greg Hudson <ghudson@MIT.EDU> Hi... can one of you speak to whether the Xess license server is supposed to deal with requests from LCS? Oddly, this person seems to be trying from 18.52.0.224 (venona.lcs.mit.edu, the machine in the mail headers, which is a NetBSD/i386 machine), which I would expect to be allowed. ------- Forwarded Message Received: from SOUTH-STATION-ANNEX.MIT.EDU by po10.MIT.EDU (5.61/4.7) id AA01257; Wed, 16 Sep 98 07:51:31 EDT Received: from venona.lcs.mit.edu by MIT.EDU with SMTP id AA02143; Wed, 16 Sep 98 07:51:21 EDT Received: by venona.lcs.mit.edu (8.8.8/4.7) id HAA03749; Wed, 16 Sep 1998 07:51:27 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <199809161151.HAA03749@venona.lcs.mit.edu> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: netbsd-help@MIT.EDU Cc: jdunagan@MIT.EDU Subject: xess Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 07:51:27 EDT From: ------------ <jdunagan@MIT.EDU> When I try to run xess on an athena netbsd machine, I get the following error message: LICENSE_ERROR: ERROR: Xess - license error No such feature exists (-5,116:110) Connection timed out Then xess exits. When I run xess from X.dialup, I don't have this problem. As far as I know, the only thing remarkable about my netbsd machine is that it is in LCS, instead of one of the dorm/ILG subnets. I haven't tried running xess from one of the dorm/ILG subnets. The version of netbsd is 1.3 (Athena 8.2). Any help would be appreciated, John ------- End of Forwarded Message
