Netscape sending unauthorized stuff?

Rumour has it that netscape periodically connects to a server at
mcom.com.
Has anybody run a netscape under strace yet, to find out what kind
of data it sends?
If there's any truth to this matter, netscape should be banned for
installing a potential trojan horse.
