I know it hurts to have to find a Windoze machine to run it on, but Adaptec has
a program that has all kinds of nice info about all of their cards, including
jumper settings for the 1542B on their WWW/FTP sites.  File is:
ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/pub/BBS/adaptec/io.exe

Has a picture of the card, a line-art drawing of it, and all the jumper
settings.
