It depends. Some adaptors (more precisely: their drivers) get upset and
throw resets or crash. (Seen with an Adaptec 1542 that crashed my
Amiga's CyberSCSI MkII during inquiry).

The primary mission should be to get the SCSI stuff recovering without
second initiator.
