Hi All.

I have been working for a time with a server (slackware 4.0 distribution) without problems.
Recently I had a hacker attack and I decided to upgrade the entire system to slackware 7.0.

Now, my tape backup don't work properly. I have activated the "aic7xxx" and "st" modules in
rc.modules and the interface and the streamer are correctly recognized at boot time and during
the linux boot process but after this, an error appear that says:

unable to get major number 9 for scsi tapes

Of course the device st0 exists in /dev with the correct (I think) major and minor numbers.

crw-r----- 1 root disk 9, 0 Jul 18 1994 st0
crw-r----- 1 root disk 9, 1 Jul 18 1994 st1

Can Anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

Luis
