This problem arose because cdrecord scanned the SanDisk
using the sg driver. The sg driver sent an INQUIRY with
an associated scatter gather list to the USB mass storage
driver. The USB driver wasn't expecting that degree of 
overkill.

This is fixed in sg version 3.1.16 which may make it into
lk 2.4.0-test6 .
