Hello

I hope someone can help me with the following problem as postings to news
groups and tech support have so far been uable to help me.

The problem is as folows:

I have an adaptec 2940U2W scsi card and am installing it into an Intel
Celeron PC running Red Hat linux 6.0.

I have a single device attached to the external port of the card and it is a
CD Reader.

Upon bootup the scsi bios can detect the CD an identifies it as scsi id 5

However when linux boots up and I try to mount the drive (scd0) I get back a
message that complains about scd0 not being a block device.

The red hat homepage suggested I pass the "extended" paramater to the
kernel. Unfortunetaly this did not seem to make any difference.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate any help.

Thankyou in advance

Harvey Davis
