I have a system with a SCSI tape drive on an Adaptec AIC-7896/7 dual
channel controler and have both st and aic7xxx compiled (using kernel
2.2.12) as modules. If I modprobe st at bootup, it causes aic7xxx to be
loaded, and the tape drive is recognized. After some time, the aic7xxx
driver is unloaded as it doesn't think it's being used. st is still
loaded, since it was loaded by a modprobe and not automatically. Attempts
to access the tape drive give an error because the aic7xxx driver isn't
loaded.
If a modprobe of st causes aic7xxx to be loaded, shouldn't aic7xxx have
had its module use count incremented?
