You should not confuse things! There is nothing like a LINUX SCSINET1
bootdisk. Linux is just the kernel, nothing else. You are referring
the a bootdisk of a Linux 'DISTRIBUTION'. So please:
a) Always state which distribution you are referring to.
b) Always state which KERNEL VERSION you are referring to.
c) Please give more information, eg include a dump of the relevant part
of the boot messages and/or error messages.
d) Contact the maintainer of that distribution BEFORE calling the
developers mailing lists for help.
This approach has the following advantages:
a) Everyone knows exactly what you are talking about.
b) The maintainer of the distribution you are using realises that there
is a problem.
Apart from that:
* Have you checked the SCSI bus termination ?
* Who is providing term power ?
* Have you checked the file /usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/scsi.c
if either your disk or your controller is listed as buggy ?
* Is the disk jumpered to auto-power-on or does it need a command ?
If yes set wait for scsi-poweron in your BIOS setup to on.
* Is this a new and fancy plug-and-play device ? If yes turn this crap
feature off in your BIOS settings! (Happend to me once with an EIDE
disk and an ethernet card)
Cheers,
Dominik Kubla
