Sorry for a dunb question, but I have a Yamaha 4416S, and am curious
how
I can tell if I need a firmware upgrade. It is only a few months old.
Also can sometone tell me some common reasons for firmware upgrades on
things like CDRWs
the only reason for upgrading firmware is to fix bugs. To see whether
you need to upgrade read the changelog for the latest firmware. If it
fixes bugs that affect you then you might want to upgrade. If it
doesn't: don't.
eg, the firmware in the 4416S has a bug where it locks up if a scsi
controller attempts wide negotiation.. :( my scsi controller has no bios
so i can't disable wide negotiation for that device - the only solution
is to upgrade the firmware to the latest revision.
hope this helps,
