System: 486/66 VLB, Adaptec 2842, Quantum 1Gig SCSI HDD and an internal Panasonic PD drive (combined
CD-ROM and Optical disk in one unit). Linux 1.2.13.
I recently added the PD drive to my system, but I am having problems reading/writing to optical
disks under Linux. I can mount the optical disks (dos format) fine, but whenever I copy a large
file > 1meg to or from the disk, the system locks up completely and the machine has to be reset.
I have been using it for a while now under dos/Windoze with no problems, regardless of file size.
The CD-ROM function works fine under Linux. I have read the scsi-faq and all I can gather from it
is that there may be a problem with termination or cables. I don't think either of those could be
the problem because it only happens in Linux.
Has anyone else had the same or a similar problem?
R.
