OK. I have done a little more delving into this. Here's the scoop.
When I originally looked at the kernel log and /proc/scsi/scsi all
looked good. But when I I do "mt -f /dev/st0 status"
I get the following:
------------------
SCSI 2 tape drive:
File number=0, block number=0, partition=0.
Tape block size 0 bytes. Density code 0x0 (default).
Soft error count since last status=0
General status bits on (40050000):
BOT DR_OPEN IM_REP_EN
------------------
I tried reloading the (fresh) media, booting with/without media loaded
etc.. It seems to claim there is no tape in there. I am sure the drive
works because I just removed it from a Windblows NT system where it had
very little use ( 10 -20 backups done on it).
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Eric
