Try to obtain the latest *firmware* from QLOGIC. I have the
qlogic_initiator_firmware_1040_v4.55.c
and it works good. You have to set RELOAD_FIRMWARE to 1 in the
qlogicisp.c file.
However, I cannot give you this, since I got it under a NDA. Previous
releases of QLOGIC firmware is available, but it has bugs.
Options:
- ask QLOGIC for the .c firmware file (better), even ask them
to put it standard in the kernel.
- ask QLOGIC for a ROM upgrade (ok)
- recontact me and I will see with QLOGIC if I have the right to
redistribute the binary, or even the source with the NDA I
signed. I already asked, but sometimes the feedback needs
some time ...
Another thing to know is if you have a very slow tape device, you may want
to change the ``30'' timeout in qlogicisp.c to something bigger.
I have a 1040B and it works very well with drives and tapes.
