I recently bought a factory repaired Seagate/Conner SCSI T4 SureStor
(internal) running off a Mylex BT-958 and have been rather pleased with
it. I use a dump/restore combination to test the reliability of backups
and haven't had any problems so far. One thing to note is that the manual
recommends cleaning the drive head with a alcohol-soaked swab after every
two hours of continuous use.

The drive was under $150 while the tapes went for about $17. I'd be hard
pressed to find anything as cost-effective as this.
