Consider updating to the most recent "stable" driver version BEFORE
annoying the public with your personal difficulties with your Adaptec.
You might want to check for the latest aic7xxx patches at
ftp://ftp.dialnet.net/pub/linux/aic7xxx/

And yes, corrupt partition tables are not very nice, but might result
from "strange" software or bugs elsewhere on the system.
