Hi Max,
thanks for your suggestion, I'll try it.
I tried several things over the weekend and nothing seemed to work.
I tried to reformat the disk with mke2fs and it would hang the system
before finishing. Then I did a low level reformatting and then tried
mke2fs again. Still hung.
Then I changed the maximum sync speed (sorry if this is the wrong term)
down from 10Mhz to 5Mhz. Then I was able to reformat with mke2fs and
all of the files I had on the IDE disk were succesfullu copied
onto the SCSI disk. Now, re-reading my backup tape (the one I
created before reformatting the disk) hung the system after 2.5 Gbytes (
I have a total of 3.2Gbytes on that HD).
So, it is now better (and slower) than before, but still giving trouble.
I will try 2.0.35 and let the list know whether the problem goes away
with it.
Thanks,
Antonio

Try to change to kernel 2.0.35-2
as for me it works fine.
Hope it helps
