	Hello All, I recently acquired 3 st410800wd 's
	The drive firmware responds with:
	st410800wd SUN9.1G 0407
and I have a SYM8751D controller (see below for info on)
I've placed only one of the drives on the bus and had
	the chain properly terminated .

When I power on the system it passes into the ncr bios scan
routine then it hangs on this unit for 10 to 15 minutes
while the drive access light rapidly flashes (2-3 per second)
after that the system will boot but the drive is inaccessable .

If I pass into the ncr config utilities it recognises the
drive just as above , then I'll attempt to format or verify
the unit and it will do the rapid light flashing again &
the timeout with a error message 'format unsuccessful'
	or some such .

I've been told by someone inside Seagate that they do not
have a microcode upgrading utility . So I guess that route
is out of the question . Is it ?

 				tia, JimL
