I have a long standing problem with a sccsi disk that did not affect
me much until I tried a 2.1 kernel. It seems that I have a corrupted
superblock that fdisk is unable to fix. The filesystems in my SCSI
disk are otherwise healthy as witnesseed fsck.

That puzzled also the upgrade procedure of RedHat 5.0 (I did manually
with rpm). But if 2.0 is able to boot, it must use some alternat
superblock.

But that may something else because the following 2.0.32 really puzzle me:
Aug 20 20:55:11 localhost kernel: Additional sense indicates Overlapped commands attempted

# fdisk /dev/sda

Unable to read /dev/sda

Moving from the 2.0.32 the 2.1.118 kernel and trying boot 2.1.118, the
kernel attempt to reset the device, fails and give-up. Reformatting
my disk is not an option, I have no backup device.

The error message of 2.0.32 is more informative:

a kind denizen from linux-kernel@vger.rutgers.edu said me that
linux-scsi@vger.rutgers.edu could be a better forum than
linux-kernel. Well, at least a got a request redirection fron
linux-kernel :)

Is there a way to got around my problem when booting 2.1.118
Thanks for your attention.
