1.  WIDE and synchronous SCSI are _options_ which aren't used until they're
	negotiated for.  Ie, you could plug most FAST WIDE SCSI-II drives into
	a asynchronous SCSI-I host and have them work; not having working 
	WIDE support isn't a problem (although performance will suffer if it
	is a REALLY fast drive like the parallel head baracuda)

2.  The distribution 1.2.x kernel doesn't support the 2940 boards. Take a
	look on 

	ftp://remus.nrl.navy.mil/pub/Linux/patches

for the latest version of the driver.
