Spin up hang with 1.3.10

Hi,
I've a Micropolis 1684 connected to an aha1542. It's the second
disc, really loud, so I use to spin it down usually. (Using the
scsi-idle patch, or under DOS with ezscsi).
When I reboot with 1.3.10, disk spun down, it says spinning
up disk, spitting out many command time-outs, then everything hangs
at the detection of partitions. Don't have the messages handy, but
1.2.11 gives the same, only that it detects the partitions without
problems.
Maybe the spin up timeout is to short? I don't know..
1.2.11 gives me this, (longish), but it comes up.
