CD-Record Problems

I'm trying to get CD-Record to work on my linux box (Slackware 3.4 w/
kernel upgrade to 2.0.33). I've compiled in the kernel options needed,
compiled and installed CD-Record, and try to do a dummy write. It goes on
for a long time, says "Success" and then barfs out a bunch of SCSI status
info in hex along with error messages. If anyone is familiar with wading
through these error messages and status codes I'd really like some help
deciphering them (I do have them and would love to forward them to someone
who could help but will refrain from dumping the whole pile of glorp on
the list as a whole).
