Hey, it's me.
I found that I was *also* hooking on __SIX__ fans to the same power
connector as the poor poor hawk. At least one of them was going bad, as
when I touched it, to stop its rotation, the hawk crashed immediately!
So, in conclusion, the hawk is fine. I was being stupid and putting too
much strain on its power connection. Some bad fans were breaking its
power connection, thus resetting the drive at the strangest times. Since
I've remedied this problem (switch power connectors with the tape drive,
wahoo!), the hawk has been nothing less than fantastic.
On the bright side, this is a fairly cool story to scare young
sysadmin-wannabes with... Hehehe.. :)
