I don't think that it is related to the power down of the drive. It
happened to me after I copied a couple of files (two kernel versions
in tar files) to my Fujitsu MO. Immediately after the copy, I sync'd
and umount the device, and things locked up tight. I've since gone
back to 1.3.8 until it's fixed.
