Hello,
Attached is a message I posted to a couple of Usenet groups. Now that
I've found out about this forum, I thought I'd try a little wider
coverage.
I've since heard from at least two people who have my apparently
problematic setup working fine, so things are a little more encouraging
than when I originally posted my message. But of course, any additional
clues would be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Marc.

Hello,
I've just installed an Adaptec AHA2940AU host adapter and Quantum
Fireball 2.1Gb drive, onto my otherwise Win95 PC (95 runs off IDE),
specifically for the purposes of installing Linux - RedHat 5.0.
I managed to start the installation process going, but when it gets to
the bit where it asks if I have any SCSI devices, and I say "Yes", and
tell it to probe automatically, it continually times out trying to
connect to anything.
The host adaptor and drive themselves are fine. I've now noticed
amongst the stuff at www.redhat.com that the "new" 2940 is only
"partially" supported. What's the level of this "partial" support? Can
I get the installation to work? What are my options?
Any clues will be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Marc.
