If I recall correctly, the Archive Viper is a series, not just one drive,
and QIC02 is a non-SCSI interface.. but maybe what you have actually is
SCSI. Can you find the exact model number of the drive?

I have an Archive Viper 2525S SCSI drive which worked great until I
supplanted it with three Tandberg TDC-4120 drives. The Viper is SCSI-1,
and mixed okay on an Adaptec 1542B and later 1542CF SCSI controller with
SCSI-2 slow hard drives. I never tried it on the same bus with anything
truly modern.

I have a graphic of the jumper settings for the Archive Viper 2525S which
I will mail to Sven separately to save list bandwidth. I also have the
full hexdump of the last (and perfectly satisfactory) rev -007 firmware
for the drive (as when I got mine, it was firmware -001, which flatly
didn't work with PCs/UNIX). The graphic and firmware I'll send
individually to anyone who needs them.
