Hi,

Sorry if my previous email was in French... It was aimed at a Frenchman... and
I did not expect it to go out in the open...

Anyway...

I tried the fix you ( James Bottomley) suggested .... and it did not help. The
problem remains.

But I figured out something else.

If your aversion to French is such you did not try to look at the rest of my
email, here is again the description of my hardware:

			- Dual Pentium 133Mz (SMP)

	 		- 1 SCSI board (IO Data) with an ncr53c875
 			   - 1 hdd IBM
 			   - 1 hdd Seagate
 			   - 1 CDROM Pioneer (12X)
 		 	   - 1 MO Fujitsu

As Gerard Roudier suggested, I recompiled the kernel to work in Uniprocessor
mode (with your fix also included) and it passed the hurdle (i.e. it probed
my scsi bus and correctly recognized the attached devices)....But, for a
reason I have had no time to investigate, ended up in a useless system.

So it seems that something in the SMP support got broken between 2.1.91 and
2.1.92

Cheers,

	Francois
