hi,
i have a machine with an Adaptech 2940 controller on a PCI bus.
it has
a SCSI HD and CDROM on it. I am trying to install redhat linux on it
and have run into a problem.

when i boot the machine using the CD, the kernel doesn't detect
the
SCSI controller automatically (which is fine); couple of screens later,
it asks me the source of installation, and the type of CDROM, etc. when
i select SCSI, it finds the controller, and then goes into an infinite
loop trying to detect aic7xxxx something. i can't break out of the
loop. can someone tell me why this is happening, and how to work around
this problem?

thanks,
sb
