Hi all. I'm thinking about bidding on a few of the Micropolis drives
available at onsale.com. I'm aware there could be a problem with
warranty, but I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise..

Anyway, its a 4.55G UW drive, model 4345WS, Tomahawk 4LP. My question is
that it states the 'synchronous transfer rate' is 20Mbs. They also say
the transfer rate is 40Mbs. Can someone explain the disparity here?

Are there problems with the Tomahawks that I should know about? Perhaps I
should just save my pennies and get a new Seagate instead?

Don't even think of buying Micropolis. I tested some Tomahawks last summer and
they were easily wedged to the point they required a power cycle to recover.
Micropolis drives in general have given people much grief over the last few
years.
